How Can You Help?

 

 

 

  •  Inform yourself about sickle cell disease
     

  •  Promote state and national initiatives to fund improved sickle cell treatment, and research efforts to find a cure for this disease.
     

  •  Support the Colorado Sickle Cell Association and its many programs.

 

 

Colorado Sickle Cell Association has a numbers of programs supporting and their families.  Many have important roles for volunteers.  These programs include:
 

 
  • Twice annual blood donation events, a joint effort with the Bonfils Blood Center
     
  • Monthly Support Group meetings, and annual

    picnic holiday dinner and holiday dinner for

    patients and families.
     

  • Emergency assistance to sickle cell patients.
     

  • Genetic counseling for youth and adults and

    assistance with transition for children and youth.
     

  • Summer and year round activities for children with

    sickle cell disease and their families
     

  • The Buff Buddy mentor program, matching

    medical students with young sickle cell patients, a joint

    effort with the Sickle Cell Research Center and

    University of Colorado Medical School.
     

  • Fundraising activities, including:

    o  Annual gospel music concerts

    o  Twice annual Bowl-a-thons

    o  Grants to support special programs

 

 
 
You can help as a volunteer with office work, fundraising, public relations, education, or by assisting with any of the programs listed above. You can donate blood, time or other resources.
